Officials from the world’s two largest economies talked on July 18 and Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin said direct talks could take place.

On the same day, sources said White House Economic Advisor Larry Kudlow will hold a meeting with software and semiconductor operators on July 22 to discuss a ban on the sale of US components to Huawei Group.

Finance Minister Steven Mnuchin will also attend the White House event, which will also include Intel Corp and Qualcomm chip makers. A White House official confirmed the meeting will take place and also Google and Micron but said the meeting discussed economic issues.
