Within the framework of this event, the city of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province together with KTO in Vietnam signed a Memorandum of Understanding with four typical travel companies in Vietnam: Saigontourist, Vietravel, HanoiRedtours and Fiditour to promote construction and development of tourism products to Daegu-Gyeongbuk.

Representatives of the city of Daegu and Gyeongsangbuk-do province said: “We are working hard to bring the image of Daegu Gyeongbuk area to spread widely throughout Southeast Asia in general and Vietnam in particular. We hope that this series of events will be an opportunity to promote tourism in Daegu-Gyeongbuk region as well as Hallyu wave in Vietnam to attract more Vietnamese tourists to visit Daegu-Gyeongbuk area, thereby contributing to improving the proportion of Vietnam’s tourism market with Korean tourism ”.

Mr. Kwon Young Jin - Daegu Mayor said, Daegu is the 3rd largest city in Korea, after Seoul and Busan. Daegu is about 1 hour and 40 minutes away from Seoul by KTX speedboat and about 1 hour from Busan, so it will be very convenient for construction, combining tour routes for tourists. In 2018, Daegu city welcomed more than 3 million international visitors, of which about 2,000 tourists from Vietnam. Daegu Metropolitan Government and Gyeongsangbuk-do Province hope that the "Daegu-Gyeongbuk Tourism Year 2020" event will promote and attract more tourists from Vietnam.

According to KTO Vietnam, there are now many direct flights from Daegu to major tourist cities of Vietnam such as: Daegu - Hanoi route with 14 flights per week; Daegu - Da Nang route has 46 flights / week; Daegu - Nha Trang route has 8 flights / week ...

In the first 4 months of 2019, the number of Vietnamese tourists traveling to Korea reached more than 170,000 visitors, an increase of about 32% compared to the same period in 2018.
