The 5-year-old Russian girl was rescued after 3 nights lost in the forest

Zarina Avgonova (5 years old) went missing in the forest after following her grandmother to the forest to pick mushrooms on August 18. In the next 72 hours, the rescue team and the special dogs still couldn’t find the trace of the child. Zarina is portrayed very shy and "very afraid of men".

Initially, the rescue team feared Zarina could drown in rivers or streams in dense forests. But then they found her footprint, near the footprints of wild brown bears. "The path of the girl and the bear cuts through each other," a lifeguard shared.

A large-scale search was conducted, in which each group had a female member to call Zarina’s name because she was worried that she would hide if she heard male voices. In addition, they recorded her mother’s voice to catch attention. Zarina’s mother cannot participate in the search for a birth.

Hunters armed with weapons also participated to watch out for the brown bear and the wolf pack.

On the evening of August 21, on Wednesday Zarina disappeared, the rescue team saw a pair of brown eyes "full of fear" from the branches. A video shot at the scene recorded the moment when she was saved, safe but exhausted and severely dehydrated.

Zarina is bitten by mosquitoes all over her body because she wears only a thin T-shirt and shorts. She was wrapped in tissue paper to keep warm after three nights lost in the forest - where the temperature dropped below 10 degrees Celsius at night with heavy rain during the time she was missing.

Alexey rescuers said: "The best thing is when we asked ’Are you scared?’, She answered ’No! I was only thirsty, craving for cakes and wanting to go home!’".

Zarina was later rescued carrying food and water. The location of the baby was found about 1.6 km from Stepanovka village, where she lived with her family. Footprints show that she "wandered into large circles" before being saved.

Zarina received overnight care in Voznesensk district hospital before being transferred to Nizhny Novgorod city center. "The child is in serious condition but has stabilized. She has a lot of dehydration," said a local doctor.
