List of 100 scientists typical of the Asian newly Journal of science Asian Scientist announced names of two scientists of Vietnam included Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem (Institute for Stem Cell and Technology gene Vinmec) and TS Nguyen Thi Hiep (International University, National University of Ho Chi Minh City). Persons recognized on this list must have national or international awards in 2018 for important scientific research or leadership in academia and industry.

Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem was recognized with many achievements, being the first doctor of stem cell transplantation to treat cerebral palsy and autism in Vietnam; directly operated 5 conjoined twins of more difficult type than 15 years ago. He also has nearly 100 scientific works in international journals in the US and Europe. Most recently published research on Vietnamese gene sequencing. Prof. Nguyen Thanh Liem was awarded the Nikkei Asia Award for science and technology.

Previously, Dr. Nguyen Thi Hiep won the third ASEAN-US Science Prize competition for outstanding research on the topic of using home-care solutions to reduce the pressure on the urban health care system. This is an award sponsored by ASEAN, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and UL, and is one of many American initiatives to support ASEAN and 10 member countries.

At the age of 39, Dr. Hiep had 2 specialized book chapters, 56 international publications; nearly 65 scientific papers in international conferences with the index citing h-index as 16; 3 patents and 1 useful solution and many articles in domestic specialized journals.
In 2018, two Vietnamese scientists in this top include Professor Phan Thanh Son Nam (Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology) and as‌sociate Professor Nguyen Sum (Quy Nhon University, Binh Dinh).

Since 2016, Vietnam has 7 people in the list of Asian Scientist Magazine. In particular, National University of Ho Chi Minh City has 4 people.
