This survey is done by YouGov. This unit has released a list of how world-famous people are admired over the past year, including former US President Barack Obama.

Matthew Smith, a journalist and reporter on YouGov’s leading data, revealed that Microsoft founder Bill Gates continues to be the world’s most admired male character of the year, followed by Barack Obama and actor. Hollywood member Jackie Chan.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, founder of leading e-commerce chain Alibaba and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, respectively took fourth, fifth and sixth positions.

Juventus club Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese team took seventh place and thus became the most admired athlete of the year. Tibetan Buddhist leader Dalai Lama is in eighth place, while Barcelona and Argentina legend Lionel Messi is ranked 9th in the overall list - becoming the second most admired athlete.

Ronaldo was also determined to be the highest ranked, when he jumped from his tenth position in 2018 to take seventh place this year.

According to YouGov’s report, this year’s study has expanded to seek opinions from people in 41 countries - the most so far - with more than 42,000 people interviewed to create the list.

A similar study was conducted to find the most admired women in the world. Unfortunately, no female athletes entered the top 20.
