Campaign manager Bill Stepien on October 23 said the money was raised by the campaign, the Republican National Committee (RNC) and its joint fundraising branches around the last presidential debate on October 22.

"This is our biggest online fundraising day ever," Stepien told reporters.

In an email, President Donald Trump’s reel election campaign also emphasized that "October was Trump Victory’s biggest-ever online fundraising month," the President’s joint fundraising committee, the Republican National Committee and 11 state Republican committees.

Presidential candidate Joe Biden’s campaign did not announce how much fundraising was made during the last debate. The record fundraising is said to have come to Trump at the right time.

Over the past few months, Biden has repeatedly raised more money than Trump and this trend lasted until Oct. According to Federal Election Commission records as of October 22, Biden’s campaign raised $130 million in the first two weeks of October and spent more than $145 million. Trump’s reel election campaign raised nearly $43.6 million and spent $63.1 million from October 1 to 14.

The Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee reported $331.2 million in cash as of October 14, while Trump and the Republican National Committee had $223.6 million. The cash advantage allows Biden to spend more than Trump in the television advertising battle the past two months.

Cash was important during the election campaign, but not all. In 2016, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton raised more money than Trump but still lost.

"We don’t need money, we have a lot of money," Trump said during the October 22 debate. "In fact, we defeated Hillary Clinton by only a fraction of the money she raised," he said.
