Reuters quoted Mr Blazej Spychalski as saying: "Yesterday, the President tested for the corona virus, which tested positive. The president is fine. We remain in regular contact with health authorities."

Mr Duda contracted the corona virus amid a wave of infections caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the number of new infections daily in the country hitting a record, more than 13,600 on October 23.

President Duda, 48, mostly plays a c ritual role but still has a veto on the law. He is an ally of the Law and Justice party.

According to Jpost, from October 24, Poland adopted more restrictable measures, including the closure of restaurants and bars for half a month, in order to control the spread of the virus in the country.

Poland’s Health Ministry said yesterday that the death toll from Covid-19 in the country was 153, raising the total death toll from the corona virus to 4,172.
