According to the Bangkok Post, on February 26, the Phraharuthai Donmuang school with 2,500 students studying in the Don Muang district of Thailand was closed for 14 days, after discovering a male student was among the three new cases of Covid- 19 but still to class from 24/2.

The school administration announced the temporary closure of the school after receiving the information that the parents’ grandparents were infected with a new strain of coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) causing acute pneumonia.

The male grandparents were found infected after a five-day trip from Hokkaido on February 20. Worth mentioning, the 8-year-old boy living with his grandparents was unfortunately infected.

However, the boy’s grandparents still took him to school on February 24. On the same day, they received positive results for corona virus .

The office of the private education committee announced the infection of male and female grandparents on February 25. Meanwhile, the Phraharuthai Donmuang School, the primary and secondary school, allows students to leave on February 25 to prepare for final exams. The school closure operation continued until February 26 to conduct cleaning to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic from spreading. The school will reopen on March 9.

The Don Muang District Office added that the Covid-19 boy’s class had 30 students and 11 teachers. They all conducted isolation at home for 14 days .

The infected boy was also taken to hospital for treatment. About 100 people in contact with the quarantined group were advised to avoid crowded places.
