In addition to being deported, Li will also be banned from traveling to Taiwan for five years. "Our government will not tolerate any illegal activity that undermines democracy and freedom for evil purposes," the Taiwan Immigration Agency said in a statement.

Li is considered the first case of deportation from Taiwan regarding the Hong Kong protest, a move that could upset China.
