About 100 meters above Boracay Island is located in the Malay town, the Philippines province of Aklan closed on August 14 and will be reopened within 72 hours after the water sample test results are available.

Tourists let their children go to the toilet on the beach

The move was made by the local government after the video showed Chinese tourists burying dirty diapers containing waste to the sand, making the Philippine public particularly indignant. Many people call on tourists to respect the natural environment and consciously maintain hygiene on the island.

Ms Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, Philippine Tourism Minister, confirmed a part of the beach must be closed and will be reopened in 72 hours. "The swimming activities are temporarily restricted so we can check the water sample results and monitor the area where the diaper is buried," Ms Bernadette said.

It is expected that the local tourism department will distribute leaflets translated into Chinese and Korean on the code of conduct when arriving in Boracay.

In 2018, Boracay Island had to be closed for 6 months due to heavy sea pollution. After that, the local authorities gave clean and restored to welcome guests back.

Boracay, pride of Philippine tourism

Located in the western part of the Visayas region, Boracay is famous for its distinct beauty of beaches surrounded by turquoise waters. Not only is the island paradise of the Philippines, Boracay is also one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Asia and in the top 25 of the world.
