Tourism promotion activities in the past half-year period are also more proactive and professional. The highlight is the Travel Fair in Ha Long with 351 booths, 340 buyers, 640 sellers and 120 international guarantees; The promotion of the image of Vietnamese tourism at the US-Korea Summit is also impressive at home and abroad; Vietnam also participated in 6 international tourism fairs; organizing 8 roadshows in ASEAN countries, China, Russia, and Korea and opening the first tourism promotion representative office in Korea under a public-private partnership model;

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the total number of international visitors to Vietnam in the first 6 months of 2019 reached over 8.5 million visitors, an increase of 7.5% compared to the same period in 2018. Tourists concentrate too crowded at some places, causing confusion, unsanitary, unsafe, not ensuring the quality of services; Uncontrolled price controls lead to negative impacts on Vietnam’s tourism image. According to the World Economic Forum (WEF), the natural environment is polluted, the level of international opening and tourism service infrastructure in Vietnam is still limited compared to the development requirements. Policies, activities of tourism management and tourism promotion in Vietnam are not really flexible and effective, and the synchronous connection is not high.

Therefore, in the last 6 months of 2019, Tourism has developed a plan to synchronously implement solutions to attract international visitors; improve tourism business environment; improve the effectiveness and efficiency of destination management; improve national competitiveness and, in particular, raise the ranking position in the ranking of WEF competitiveness from 7 to 9 steps.
