Người dẫn chương trình truyền hình, Carlos Loret de Mola, gợi ý, người đẹp nên treo thưởng bằng tiền hoặc một nụ hôn. Jimena Elias từ chối hôn anh chàng lái taxi nhưng cho rằng, cha cô có thể giúp cô hậu tạ người đó một khoản tiền.

Hầu hết các thí sinh tham gia Miss Universe đều cười tươi như hoa sau khi cuộc thi kết thúc. Họ giải thích: "Chúng tôi sắp được về nhà!". Sau một tháng tại Mexico, các cô gái nhớ nhà da diết. Trong một cuộc khảo sát, nhiều người đẹp tuyên bố họ nhớ người yêu. Có người nhớ chiếc điện thoại di động để lại quê hương. Ba mỹ nhân nhớ chiếc giường thân yêu. Tuy nhiên, bữa ăn gia đình ấm cúng do mẹ nấu mới là điều khiến nhiều người nghĩ tới nhất khi đi thi Hoa hậu quốc tế.

Châu Âu không có đại diện nào góp mặt trong số 10 người đẹp nhất Miss Universe 2007. Hoa hậu CH Czech, người từng chụp ảnh khỏa thân cho một tạp chí trong nước năm ngoái, xếp thứ 12 trong top 15.

Hoa hậu nước chủ nhà bị chê là có hông to tới mức, so với cô, ca sĩ Jennifer Lopez thật mảnh mai. Tuy nhiên, cô vẫn lọt vào top 15 và tham gia trình diễn áo tắm. Khi cuộc thi mới bắt đầu, Hoa hậu Mexico quyết định không mặc bộ váy áo đeo đầy vỏ mìn mà cô đã diện khi tham gia cuộc thi trong nước trước đó.

Sau khi bị khán giả Mexico la ó trong vòng thi Trang phục dân tộc ngoài trời hôm 20/5, Hoa hậu Mỹ tiếp tục bị "ê" trong đêm chung kết. Người tổ chức cuộc thi, Donald Trump, tuyên bố: "Họ không tấn công thí sinh của Mỹ mà tấn công chính sách của Mỹ". Người dân nước chủ nhà phản ứng vì Mỹ thắt chặt quy chế với người Mexico nhập cư bất hợp pháp.

Hoa hậu Brazil quên chúc mừng Hoa hậu Nhật Bản khi thấy tên mình được xướng lên cho danh hiệu Á hậu 1. Gương mặt cô lộ rõ vẻ thất vọng vì mình không giành được vương miện.

Hoa hậu Hoàn vũ 2006, Zuleyka Rivera, không dành nụ cười nào cho Tân Hoa hậu người Nhật Bản. Cô thậm chí còn để chiếc vương miện tuột khỏi tay trước khi đặt lên đầu Riyo Mori.  

Trong cuộc họp báo ngắn sau đêm chung kết, ông trùm Donald Trump tuyên bố, Tokyo là địa điểm lý tưởng để tổ chức cuộc thi Hoa hậu Hoàn vũ 2008. Tuy nhiên, Nga và Trung Quốc cũng có thể là nước chủ nhà cho cuộc thi năm sau.
