Told the  Global Times , the expert said that the US’s relentless sanctions on Chinese technology companies are nothing, just like a mosquito bite and will not be able to stop the speed. China’s high-tech development.

Yesterday (April 8), the Department of Industry and Security, an agency of the US Department of Commerce, announced that seven Chinese supercomputer companies were added to the "blacklist" for national security reasons. .

Seven Chinese supercomputer companies that are listed as "blacklisted" this time include: Tianjin Phytium Information Technology Company, Shanghai High Performance Integrated Circuit Design Center, Electronic Circuit Company Sunway, Jinan National Supercomputer Center, Shenzhen National Supercomputer Center, Wuxi National Supercomputer Center, and Zhengzhou National Supercomputer Center.

According to the statement, the entities are building supercomputers for the Chinese military to use to modernize or develop weapons.

However, Mr. Mei Xinyu, a researcher at the Institute of International Trade and Economic Cooperation under the Ministry of Commerce, said that these new sanctions are not much different from those that the US has taken. imposed.

According to him, the US has imposed restrictions on Chinese technology that can be used by the military like computers. This latest move is merely to tighten these measures, instead of adopting new ones.

The Global Times said that despite the pressure from the US, over the past time, Chinese technology companies have still achieved many achievements.

"It was like a mosquito bite. We wouldn’t have a problem if there was one more bite," said Mei.

US sanctions will only motivate Chinese companies to make more research and development efforts to close the technology gap in areas such as semiconductors and computers, he said.
