A new fiber optic cable line will soon run through Vietnam and Southeast Asia
The addition of new cables will help increase the bandwidth and reduce congestion when some cable lines go down.

The Asia Direct Cable as‌sociation (ADC) has recently approved NEC as the main developer to build a new 9,400-kilometer undersea cable, which is expected to travel through countries including Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. docked in Quy Nhon), Philippines, China and Japan.

The cable line is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022, with bandwidth up to 140 Tb / second, data transmission from Southeast Asia and East Asia. Members behind the ADC as‌sociation include: Singtel, CAT, China Telecom, China Unicom, PLDT, SoftBank, Tata Communications and Viettel.

By comparison, the bandwidth of 140 Tb / sec of ADC cable is much larger than the existing cable routes such as AAG (2.88 Tb / sec), AAE-1 (40 Tb / sec), APG (54 Tb / s) ).

The system is expected to provide the highest cable capacity and diversity needed for major information centers in Asia, helping carriers and service providers plan networks and services better to Sustainable Development.

The large capacity of the cable line will support specifically for bandwidth-hungry applications such as 5G technology, the cloud, connected things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI).

In addition, NEC is also as‌signed to build the Southeast Asia Japan 2 cable (SJC2) with a total bandwidth of 144 Tb / s, with a scheduled completion time of the end of 2021.

This is a marine cable route with a length of 10,500 km, with 11 landing points in Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, South Korea and some locations in Taiwan and Japan.
