Google has invested a lot of important resources into the Android operating system and Play Store system to turn them into the richest, most secure app store.

However, there are exceptions when some malicious applications have somehow managed to get out of the control of the Google Play Protect security service, and even become a very popular one. This is the case with VivaVideo - developed by Chinese company QuVideo Inc.

According to what the research team from VPNpro has claimed, the popular video editing application VivaVideo is believed to contain malicious code and could affect at least 100 million Android users globally.

VPNpro says the spyware installed by the developer of QuVideo Inc in VivaVideo will require users to grant access to some sensitive areas of the operating system, thereby exploiting a lot of important information of the person. Use via VivaVideo application such as location, search history, personal information, etc ... and remote access to victim device.

In addition to the usual rights such as accessing system memory, VivaVideo also requires access to GPS, which according to VPNpro has sent GPS location at least 14,000 times a day on the user’s device, even if not run the application.

So far, QuVideo Inc currently has 3 applications on CH Google Play. In particular, VivaVideo is one of the most popular free video editing applications on Android, offering many powerful tools.

In 2017, the Indian government once listed VivaVideo on a list of 40 Chinese apps containing spyware and asked military personnel to immediately remove it from their smartphones.

Users are advised to delete applications including VivaVideo, VivaVideo PRO Video Editor HD, SlidePlus, Tempo, VivaCut, VidStatus from their devices and replace them with other apps.
