Trump announced on May 29, but did not specify the steps that the US government intended to take.

According to President Trump, investment firms should not allow customers to face the potential risks as‌sociated with financing Chinese companies "not complying with the rules of the game". The White House boss insists that Americans need "fairness and transparency".

According to statistics of the US-China Economic and Security as‌sessment Committee, as of February 2019, 156 Chinese companies with a total market capitalization of US $ 1.2 trillion were listed in the financial market. the US itself, of which at least 11 are state-owned.

Among these companies is e-commerce giant Alibaba, China’s largest oil company PetroChina and the world’s largest oil refinery Sinopec.

President Trump’s order for Chinese companies comes after the US leader announced he would suspend entry with some Chinese citizens and reconsider US ties with Hong Kong.

Trump said he directed the US government to begin the process of depriving it of special privileges for Hong Kong and that the United States would treat Hong Kong the same as the rest of China.
