According to Major Scott Moser, the Caroline County Sheriff and the Schantz family, the driver noticed that the car ahead of them tried to avoid something like a large garbage bag in the middle of the road. However, instead of avoiding this obstacle, the Schantz family decided to stop.

“They ran towards the bag. Instead of leaving the garbage bags on the road, they stopped, picked it up and threw it behind the truck, ”said Major Moser.

The Schantz family continued to see another bag near the nearby gutter and also picked it up. After returning home at night, they were going to throw away both of those trash bags.

“When they were about to throw it away, they found it in a bag that looked like a letter. After that, they continued to explore more, which turned out to be cash, ”added Major Moser.

The Schantz family contacted the police to report the incident.

“We went there and found out it was cash. There are two bags and the total amount is $ 1 million, ”Major Moser said.

In the two large pockets there are smaller pockets, each containing information about where to send the money.

Police investigated the bags before handing them over to the US Postal Service, which is looking into the case to find the true owner of the money.

“Who is really the owner of these bags, where is it shipping? We have not been able to disclose any information yet, ”said Major Moser.

Police representatives said the honest act of the Schantz family was very welcome.

“I am sure it is very difficult to make that decision. Nearly 1 million USD in cash. But they did the right thing, ”said Major Moser.
