This drug completely inhibits the ability of SARS-CoV-2 virus after 48 hours from the time of infection with very small doses. Ms. Skvortsova said the drug has potential in both prevention and treatment. Although Mefloquine has side effects in about 26% of cases, it is easily tolerated.

Health Minister Mikhail Murashko once said that in the second half of July, the first COVID-19 vaccines will appear in Russia.

Recent figures show that the epidemic in Russia has peaked and the number of cases has been "stable." The enhancement of Russia’s large-scale COVID-19 test has been shown to have a positive effect on quickly detecting asymptomatic cases, maintaining low mortality and increasing recovery rates.
