“I saw it when I started swimming a few meters. I found a rather strange-shaped stele. I decided to dive and scoop it up, it looks like an Egyptian temple in the middle of the Mediterranean, ”said Rafi Bahalul.

"The strange stele that Rafi Bahalul discovered was an Egyptian stone anchor, dating back 3,400 years," said Jacob Sharvit, head of the Israeli antiquities protection agency.

The anchor of Egypt is currently stored and displayed at the National Museum of Israel.

According to Israeli archaeologists, this anchor is a small part of a large, elaborately decorated bas-relief. After the bas-relief was broken for some reason, a piece of it was punched and used as an anchor.

"The crew members who lost the anchor or the ship that used it were wrecked off the Mediterranean," said Ben Dor Evian, an archaeologist about the origin of the anchor.

Ancient Egyptian characters used about 5,000 years ago are also engraved on this anchor. Some phrases on an Egyptian anchor are translated by archaeologists as follows:

"The stone slab is in the hands of Seshat (the creative Go‌ddess of ancient Egypt)," love, house and books. "
