After more than half a year of sluggishness due to a flight ban, Boeing finally earned a contract to sell the 737 Max. This is the company’s first 737 Max model order since March.

Despite orders, Boeing was still overtaken by rival Airbus.

At the Dubai Airshow air show on November 19, Boeing said an unnamed airline had ordered 20 737 Max. Of these, 10 are 737 Max 7 and 10 are 737 Max 10 (still under development by Boeing).

In addition, Boeing also announced it has received orders for 10 more 737 Max 8 aircraft from SunExpress, an airline owned by Lufthansa and Turkey.

After two serious accidents that killed 346 people, the Boeing 737 Max was banned from flight in March.

Despite orders, this figure of Boeing is still quite modest compared with rival Airbus at Dubai Airshow. Air Arabia ordered 120 A320s, a rival of 737 Max.

Airbus has also sold 20 long-range A321 aircraft to General Electric and 10 to Flynas, a low-cost airline based in Saudi Arabia. Besides, EasyJet claims to have purchased 12 more A320neo aircraft.
