The sho‌cking images shared online show that Riham al-Abdullah, 5, is holding hands with his younger sister Tuqa, 7 months old, on the side of the house collapsed due to a missile hit in Ariha, Idlib province 24/7.

Initially, journalist Bashar al-Sheikh, who recorded the scene, did not find the sisters Riham because the neighborhood was covered with white dust after the air raid. But then he heard the screams of the children and the father above.

"Children, don’t fall down", the father named Amjad al-Abdullah cried with a desperate face.

Neighbors and volunteers of the Syrian Civil Defense Organization (SCD) quickly teamed up to rescue Riham and Tuqa from concrete segments. However, Riham was killed in the hospital due to severe injuries and the girl was in critical condition and treated in the intensive care unit.

SCD staff saved another person from the ruins of the house but the mother of two children, Asmaa Naqouhl, was also killed at the scene.

The story of the two sisters makes an image of the boy Omran Daqneesh, 5, with a face full of blo‌ody sitting on an ambulance after being rescued from a house hit by bombs in Aleppo 2016. Omran later it recovered and moved with the family to the new home.

Syrian government forces under Russian support are trying to regain Idlib from rebels and rebels. On July 24, 20 civilians, including five children, were killed in air strikes on at least three areas of the province, according to the UK-based Syrian Human Rights Watch group. The group accused the airstrikes carried out by Russia that killed 10 people in one family but the information was not confirmed.

Idlib and the two provinces of Hama and Aleppo created the last stronghold of the Syrian opposition after 8 years of civil war. The United Nations last week said more than 350 civilians were killed and 330,000 fled since the conflict in northern Syria escalated in late April.
