CNN sources originating from India’s National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) have said there are at least 36 people who are disabled because of the longest heat wave in the country.
NDMA spokesman Anshu Priya said the scorching heat wave in many parts of the country lasted for 30 consecutive days, with very high temperatures in the north and central regions.
In New Delhi, temperatures reached 480C, the highest level in June was recorded in the capital while Churu city in the state of Rajasthan in the west recorded temperatures above 500C earlier this month.
In addition, the rainy season comes slowly and the weather gets hotter and the south receives the first rain of the season 8.6, 7 days slower than the average of the previous years. Meanwhile, the north is still waiting for the rain to come.
Specialist Raghavan Krishnan of the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology warns that heat waves are becoming more frequent and intense.
In the summer of 2016, NDMA carried out a series of measures to limit the impact of people from heat, including the opening of a shelter for homeless people, adjustment of office hours, establishment of a leveling station drinking water and painting white roofs to reduce heat absorption.
As a result, the number of people living with health has plummeted in recent years. Previously, 2,400 people died in the 2015 heatwave. By 2016, the number of deaths decreased to 250 people.
