US President Donald Trump has just had a telephone conversation and discussed “the anti-terrorism efforts“ with General Khalifa Haftar, commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA), the force is conducting a campaign to capture the capital Tripoli.

The LNA warrior is about to head to the capital of Triopli on April 13, according to the announcement on April 19, the White House said in a telephone call on April 15, President Trump recognized the important role of General Haftar in the fight against terrorism and protect Libya’s oil resources. The two sides also discussed "the vision for Libya to move to a democratic, stable political system," according to Reuters.

It is unclear why the White House has to wait a few days to announce the conversation. The right of US Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan to emphasize "a military solution is not what Libya needs". Shanahan also said Washington needed General Haftar’s as‌sistance in "building a stable democracy in the region".

Meanwhile, the United Nations on April 18 warned LNA’s fighting and the interim Libyan government (GNA) was in danger of becoming a major conflict. The warning came after the World Health Organization said that at least 205 people were killed and 913 wounded since the LNA began to campaign for Tripolihom 4.4.
