On April 19, Aso volcano in Kumamoto Prefecture, southwestern Japan, became active again after a small eruption was recorded.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, Aso volcano erupted at 8 hours 24 minutes (local time), with a column of dust and smoke as high as 400m.
This is the first time Aso volcano has been in operation since October 2016. The Japan Meteorological Agency maintained volcanic warnings at level 2 on a five-level warning scale.
