Xiaomi cherished plans to launch cheap 5G smartphones
5G smartphones are expected to explode this year.

Most smartphones that come with the world’s first 5G function to date are high-end models, priced at tens of millions of dong. However, in recent times, smartphone brands from China are intending to "popularize" 5G to users in the cheaper segment.

Xiaomi is said to be the strongest manufacturer in this strategy, with the announcement that it will launch a series of 5G smartphones in the mid-range segment, and will even stop selling 4G smartphones since the end of this year.

Sheet Abacusnews quoted Lu Weibing, vice president of Xiaomi and chief brand redmi, said phone companies China is "cherished" plans to launch a smartphone 5G with prices ranging from 999 yuan (equivalent 3 million VND).

Besides, all new models from Redmi priced from 1,500 yuan (nearly 5 million) will be equipped with 5G connectivity.

This information comes after the latest Redmi smartphone was launched - Redmi 10X. The 5G version of this phone sells for only 1,599 yuan (about 5.2 million dong) in China, with hardware including a 48MP camera cluster, MediaTek Dimensity 820 chip. Besides, the company also released a version. Redmi 10X 4G is equipped with a hardware with a different type of processor.

In addition to Xiaomi, other Chinese smartphone brands, such as Huawei with Honor 30 series (priced from 9 million VND), or Oppo with Find X Lite model (priced from 12 million VND), promise to create a competition. Price competition is extremely fierce in the mid-range and high-end 5G segment.

Some analysts think that 5G is like a new fat piece of cake that has just been opened in the smartphone market, and every manufacturer wants to get the biggest share.

Liu Hong, director of Vivo China, said the price of 5G smartphones could drop to around US $ 200 in the fourth quarter of this year.

Meanwhile, Ren Zhengfei, Huawei’s chairman, acknowledged that 5G is not for all users - especially the low-end segment.
